This Japanese figure of the Shinto deity Hotei represents the god of good fortunes, satisfaction and trade. This sitting figurine is exquisitely hand painted in enamel shades of light blue, rust, dark blue, yellow and  white. His body, hands and feet are left unglazed.  Hotei sitting and fanning himself and has easy-going face

The  manufacturer is Kutani. About 1860's, end of Edo period.
