This Japanese figure of the Shinto deity Hotei represents the
god of good fortunes, satisfaction and trade. This figurine is
exquisitely hand painted with
relief in enamel shades of light green, rust, dark
green, light blue white, dark blue, tan and gold
gilt. His body, hands and feet are left unglazed.
This
Hotei's happy expression shows that his large bag is full of
riches and fortunes. The manufacturer
is Kutani. About 1890's, Meiji period.
Dimenssions: 30 cm. / 12". Very good condition.
