Y-087 Samurai Warrior suit of folding armor KARUTA TATAMI GUSOKU, of Edo era

A set of tatami gusoku of Edo period consists of TATAMI KARUTA jacket and CHOCHIN KABUTO helmet. The iron Chochin helmet of four collapsible circular plates and suspending a five sections shikoro (neck guard) black  lacquered and  with blue lacing (lacing and inner lining had been restored about 20-25 years ago).

Karuta Tatami  jacket consist of an iron lacquered rectangular plates connecting together by chainmail and sewn to a cloth backing.  A protective skirt - KUSAZURI attached to the jacket bu blue laces  (lacing had been restored about 20-25 years ago). On the armor back it  has a holder for banner's shaft.

Tatami armour was lightweight, portable, convenient for transportation, and they were manufactured inexpensively for the ashigaru light infantry. Tatami armours were worn by all samurai classes from the highest class to the lowest class.

Very good condition according to age with some professional restoration works.
